Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck had a breakout 2017-2018 season as the Jets starting goaltender. He was a restricted free agent and heading for arbitration, but Hellebuyck and the Jets agreed to a six-year deal worth $37 million.
His record last season was 44-11-9 with a .924 save percentage and a 2.36 GAA, along with six shutouts. Connor Hellebuyck was a Vezina Trophy finalist, but Nashville Predators’s Pekka Rinne won the award.
Hellebuyck was one of the reasons why the Winnipeg Jets made it to the Western Conference Finals this past season. They finished the 2017-2018 season with a 52-20-10 with 114 points and Winnipeg had the second best record in the west.
I don’t think a lot of people expected Connor Hellebuyck to have a breakout season after they decided to sign goalie Steve Mason last offseason and the rest was history. Hellebuyck will be one of the best goalies in the league for the next five to seven years and he is currently 25 years old. Connor Hellebuyck plays a very calm and steady style.
