The New York Yankees couldn’t afford another slip up on the road against the Baltimore Orioles, in order to keep pace in the American League East Standings with the Boston Red Sox. Entering Wednesday Night, they have already lost twice to the Orioles in this series and the Yankees were already 3.5 games back of the Boston Red Sox for first place. New York crushed Baltimore 9-0, and they split the four-game set.

Giancarlo Stanton hit an RBI single in the third-inning for the New York Yankees. Greg Bird hit a grand slam later in the inning for the Yankees off of Dylan Bundy. Tyler Wade hit a solo homerun in the sixth-inning for New York off of Mike Wright Jr.

Austin Romine hit a solo homerun in the seventh-inning for the Yankees off of Jhan Marinez. Didi Gregorius scored on a Aaron Hicks fielder’s choice in the eighth-inning to the pitcher. Giancarlo Stanton hit an RBI single in the ninth inning.

Sonny Gray (6-7) was the winning pitcher for the New York Yankees. He pitched six strong innings and gave up three hits. Gray walked one batter and struck out eight. It was one of his best starts of the season.

Dylan Bundy (6-9) was the losing pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles. He pitched four innings and gave up five hits and five runs. Bundy walked four batters and struck out three.

The New York Yankees will play a four-game set on the road before the All-Star Break against the Cleveland Indians and the Baltimore Orioles will host the Philadelphia Phillies in a make-up game on Thursday Evening. Then they will host the Texas Rangers for a three-game set before the All-Star Break.
